Resumen detallado

First-time candidate Qiulae Wong is bound for parliament after leading teal party Opportunity to its best ever result.

The teal phenomenon has expanded to New Zealand, where the Opportunity Party look set to elect MPs for the first time.

Whether it will hold the balance of power is not yet known, with an incredibly tight count unfolding on election night.

What is clear is rookie candidate Qiulae Wong has led the upstart party to its best ever result and almost certainly into parliament.

With 35 per cent counted, Opportunity was on 5.4 per cent of the vote, just ahead of the all-important five per cent threshold.
