However, expecting more favourable relations or outcomes would be unwise.

Elections for the House or Senate don’t elect the president, but they can shape oversight, spending priorities, and the potential for new laws. The administration can continue implementing trade and international relations policy even if the opposition party takes control of one or both chambers. More intense scrutiny and negotiation could happen in that case.
