Whether for guacamole, queso, or burritos, few things are more polarizing than Chipotle and Qdoba, two of the largest Mexican-inspired restaurant chains in the United States. Compared to Chipotle, a massive publicly traded company with more than 4,000 locations worldwide, Qdoba is modest in size, operating 893 total locations across the United States, Canada, and Japan. Qdoba is a privately owned chain that relies heavily on franchising, which makes up the majority of its locations. The chain reportedly had nearly $1.3 billion in systemwide sales in the US in 2025, according to Technomic data.
