AI and the internet should promote progress and serve the public good, Gao Zhikai, vice-president of the Center for China and Globalization, said in an interview during the 2026 World Internet Conference (WIC) Wuzhen Summit.
As AI develops rapidly, he noted, it is important to consider how to better protect the continuity of different civilizations, cultures and traditions of countries around the world.
Gao called for international cooperation in AI to help countries worldwide advance AI development steadily.
In Gao's view, the WIC in Wuzhen offers a prime platform for AI and internet development to support and reinforce each other.
