SIEM REAP — Cambodia’s Techo Peace Museum, designed as a PMN-2 landmine and described as the world’s largest landmine-shaped building, is set to open on Dec. 3 after nearly five years of construction, with support from the Japanese government and people.

According to Oung Rasmey, deputy director of the administration department responsible for public relations, the museum is completing final preparations ahead of the opening ceremony, which Prime Minister Hun Manet will preside over.

Construction began in early 2022 and is expected to be fully completed by the end of 2026, Rasmey said during a media visit organized by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) on Nov. 3.

Located in Anlong Pi village, Trapeang Thom commune, Prasat Bakong district, Siem Reap province, the Techo Peace Museum complex covers approximately 14.8 hectares and consists of two main buildings.
